Mother's Day Q&A
Which Cara Cara piece will you wear this Mother's Day and why?
S: My Laney Cardigan from Resort 2025. I’ll be upstate this Mother’s Day and likely hiking to my kids’ favorite waterfall for a picnic lunch, which will be a wonderful but also chilly excursion at this time of year. I love the beautiful jacquard motifs on this piece and layer it over denim on weekend mornings and for evening walks with the family.
J: Our Claudine Top and Josephine Pant in Dots Khaki from the upcoming High Summer 2025 collection. I wore it to a Derby party this past weekend. There are so many fun ways to accessorize this set and add your own touch to a classic dot.
K: I live by the beach, so I’ll probably wear one of our Simone Dresses which is a really chic caftan-style dress that can be belted to dress up for dinner or worn unbuttoned over a bathing suit for day. I love the versatility and Slim Aarons-vibe.

What does your dream Mother’s Day look like from morning to night?
K: I’m just back from a dizzying four day 5th grade class trip to DC with my twin boys. It was (mostly) magical, and aside from sharing a tiny bathroom and momentarily losing one child on the metro, I’m basking in the glow of major kids QT. With that said, I would love nothing more than a day to myself. A workout class, over-priced uber eats lunch on my patio. Maybe a facial. And some chilled Chablis by the pool. A homemade card would be the icing.
J: Riding horses with my son in the morning, an early afternoon massage, and a nice, long brunch in Millbrook with florals, a beautiful tablescape and a bunch of my best friends.

S: It begins with a late wake up and a turkey, egg and cheese on a toasted kaiser roll, extra Cholula. Next, Goldie and I are headed to the nail salon to chat with the girls and get a fresh Dazzle Dry manicure (I’m loving the color “Moonlight” for spring). Then it’s off to Bergdorf Goodman to pick up a Mother’s Day treat at Linda’s (Christian is always so helpful), followed by early dinner with my son and husband in midtown, my second spirit neighborhood. We walk home up Fifth, just like I used to with my family on Mother’s Day after dinner at the gone-but-not-forgetten Mickey Mantle’s. That’s about as good as it gets.
Is there a beauty product you’ll be reaching for—or a skincare ritual that’s part of the dream-day plan?
J: Hermes lipstick in Coral Flamingo - the perfect shade of coral.
K: After years of adding to my cart and not checking out, I finally pulled the trigger on the Dennis Gross’ led therapy mask. It terrifies my kids which is a bonus!
S: Hot rollers! Do not be intimidated, these velvet ones do half the work holding the hair in place as you roll, and the clips are pain free. The style sets in about 15 minutes and the volume lasts twice as long as a salon blowout. Life-changing.

What’s one thing you’d love to gift yourself—or be gifted—on Mother’s Day?
S: A pick up truck and fabulous Schiaparelli blazer. Both, and equally.
K: One of Andie Dinkins’ fantastical, dinner party feast paintings. I dream of being a glamorous, martini wielding guest in one of them.
J: A pink Hermes Birkin 25
